Remote Bookkeeper Contractor Jobs in New York

We add remote bookkeeper contractors a few at a time, and New York applicants are welcome.

How it works

Bookkeeping work from New York

The work is a monthly close for small business clients: categorize transactions, reconcile bank and card accounts, and send clear reports, in QuickBooks Online, Xero or the software the client already owns. We are a young firm and take a limited number of contractors, so we do not promise a volume of work. We do not have an office in New York, and the work is done online. The larger cities in New York that our pages cover include New York City, Buffalo, Rochester, Albany.

Small businesses across New York, from New York City to smaller towns, work in sectors such as finance, media, culture, tourism and entrepreneurship, with New York City as a major financial center, so contractors who know a few industries tend to fit well.

What you need

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online, Xero or similar software
  • Comfort with monthly reconciliations and clear client communication
  • A computer, a reliable internet connection and a private place to work
  • Willingness to keep client information confidential
  • A W-9 and a signed independent contractor agreement
  • Familiarity with New York filings is a plus, not a requirement

What it pays

Pay and terms

Rates are discussed on a short call and confirmed in writing before you take on any client. We do not have a posted rate. This is independent contractor work with a 1099 at year end, and you choose what you accept.

This page is not legal advice. Honest note: we are a young company, and we keep the team small so the contractors who join early get the work as it grows.
