How it works
Bookkeeping work from Ohio
Each client engagement is a monthly routine of categorizing, reconciling and reporting, done in QuickBooks Online, Xero or whatever the client already uses. We are a young firm and take a limited number of contractors, so we do not promise a volume of work. We do not have an office in Ohio, and the work is done online. The larger cities in Ohio that our pages cover include Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati.
If you live near Columbus or elsewhere in Ohio, you can work from home; manufacturing and financial activities (each 18.3% of GDP); trade, transportation and utilities lead in employment are among the sectors in the state.
What you need
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online, Xero or similar software
- Comfort with monthly reconciliations and clear client communication
- A computer, a reliable internet connection and a private place to work
- Willingness to keep client information confidential
- A W-9 and a signed independent contractor agreement
- Familiarity with Ohio filings is a plus, not a requirement
What it pays
Pay and terms
Rates are discussed on a short call and confirmed in writing before you take on any client. We do not have a posted rate. This is independent contractor work with a 1099 at year end, and you choose what you accept.
This page is not legal advice. Honest note: we are a young company, and we keep the team small so the contractors who join early get the work as it grows.
FAQ
Ohio bookkeeper contractor questions
Do I need a certification?
Not required. We look for real hands-on experience, and credentials such as QuickBooks ProAdvisor are a plus.
What Ohio filings come up?
The Ohio Department of Taxation lists a 5.75% state sales tax rate, with county and transit authority taxes added on top (combined rates are capped at 8.75%).
