How it works

Notary work in Illinois

In-person work is concentrated in New Jersey for now. A Illinois application goes into our pool for remote sessions and for in-person assignments as they open up in Illinois. We do not have an office in Illinois. Before we assign any remote session we confirm with you what Illinois requires of its notaries. This is general information, not legal advice. The larger cities in Illinois that our pages cover include Chicago, Springfield.

What you need

Requirements

  • An active notary commission in Illinois, with at least 60 days left
  • Errors and omissions (E&O) insurance of at least $100,000
  • A background check completed in the last 12 months
  • A W-9 and a signed independent contractor agreement
  • A smartphone and email, and a printer for loan documents if you want in-person loan work
  • For remote work: approval on the Proof platform and a computer with a webcam and microphone

What it pays

Pay and terms

Pay is per assignment at 50% of the customer's service fee. On New Jersey assignments that is $37.50 for a mobile notary visit, $75 for a loan signing and $62.50 for a hospital or care-facility visit. Your exact pay is shown before you accept each job, and we confirm pay with you before any Illinois assignment. This is independent contractor work with a 1099 at year end.

This page is not legal advice. Honest note: we are a young company, and we keep the team small so the contractors who join early get the work as it grows.
