Interview answer builder

Write your story in four parts. We put it together, time how long it takes to say, and point out what to tighten.

How it works

How to use it

Pick a real example for a question like "Tell me about a time you..." Write one or two sentences for each part: the Situation, your Task, the Action you took and the Result. Keep most of it on the action and result. Aim for 60 to 120 seconds spoken. When it's ready, practice saying it out loud.

FAQ

About the STAR method

What is the STAR method?

A way to answer behavioral questions: the Situation, the Task, your Action and the Result. It keeps the story short and ends on what you achieved.

How long should an answer be?

About 60 to 120 seconds, which is roughly 130 to 260 words spoken. Most of that time should go to what you did and the result.

Should I say "I" or "we"?

Say what you did. Interviewers are hiring you, so credit the team where it's fair, but make your own part clear.

Can I practice out loud?

Yes. Resume Studio's mock interview lets you record an answer, then grades its structure and how concise it is.

Is my answer saved?

No. The builder runs in your browser and nothing is sent to us.

Ready to say it out loud? Resume Studio has a mock interview that grades a recorded answer. Also see the bullet point checker.
