How much does a notary cost in New Jersey?
Pick a service and see a starting estimate: our price plus the state notarial fee. We confirm the exact total before your appointment.
How it works
What affects the price
Our price depends on the service. A mobile notary visit and a hospital or care-facility visit start at the price shown, plus the state notarial fee for each act. A loan signing includes printing and scanbacks, and the state fee for real estate financing is a flat amount. Online notarization by video has no travel, and each added signer adds a small fee. An apostille is priced per document, and the state agency charges its own fee on top.
Things that can raise the total: travel outside our usual area, evening or rush requests, many documents, extra signers at different addresses and documents that need special handling. We confirm the exact fee before your appointment is confirmed, and you never pay a surprise at the door.
FAQ
About these prices
Is this the final price?
No. It is a starting estimate built from our starting prices and the state's notarial fee. Travel outside our usual area, rush requests, extra documents and special handling can change the total, and we confirm the fee before your appointment is confirmed.
What is the state notarial fee?
New Jersey caps what a notary may charge for the notarial act itself. We show the amounts listed on our fees page: $2.50 per notarial act, with flat fees for real estate transfers and financing. The state fee is separate from our service price.
How is the number of acts counted?
We multiply people signing by documents, as a typical estimate. Your documents may need more or fewer notarial acts, and we sort that out when we confirm.
Do you give legal advice?
No. A notary can't tell you which document you need or give legal advice. Check with the office asking for the document, or your attorney, if you're unsure.
