How it works
How to use the calendar
Choose your business type, say whether you have employees, pay contractors or collect New Jersey sales tax, and the list below updates. The dates are the usual ones for businesses on a calendar year. When a date lands on a weekend or a federal holiday, the calendar moves it to the next business day, the way the IRS does.
Download the dates as a calendar file for Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook, or sign up for email reminders. We send one email about a week before each deadline, and every email has a link to stop them.
This is general information for planning. Your own deadlines can differ, for example if your business uses a fiscal year or has a special filing status. Check with the IRS, the NJ Division of Taxation or a tax professional. An annual report for a New Jersey LLC or corporation is due by the end of the month your business was formed, so it is not on this calendar.
FAQ
About these dates
Are these the official due dates?
They are the usual federal and New Jersey due dates for businesses on a calendar year, shown for planning. When a date lands on a weekend or federal holiday it moves to the next business day. The IRS and the NJ Division of Taxation set the real dates, and disaster relief or a special rule can change them.
What if my business uses a fiscal year?
This calendar assumes a calendar year, which is how most small businesses file. A fiscal-year business has different dates. Ask your tax professional.
Does a filing extension move the payment date?
No. An extension gives you more time to file the return, not more time to pay. Tax you owe is still due on the original date.
How do the email reminders work?
You confirm your address by clicking a link, and then we email you about a week before each deadline on your calendar. Each email has a link to stop them. We use your address for nothing else.
Is this tax advice?
No. It is general information. Your own situation may have different dates or requirements, so check with the IRS, the State of New Jersey or a tax professional.
