Who this is for
Owners who stopped keeping up during a busy season, took over books from a family member or an earlier bookkeeper, or opened a file that no longer matches the bank. It also fits anyone about to meet with an accountant or a lender and wanting numbers they can stand behind.
What we do
We start with a look at your accounts and your software file, then write down the scope: which months, which accounts and what is out of scope. Then we reconcile each bank and card account, clear uncategorized and duplicate transactions, fix obvious miscoding, and check that income and loans sit where they belong.
You get a short summary of what we found and what we changed, plus the month-end reports for the catch-up period. Questions we cannot answer from the records come to you in one list, not a trickle of emails.
How it is priced
Catch-up work starts at $300 per month of backlog on the smallest tier and rises with transaction volume. The quote form shows an estimate for your situation, and we confirm it in writing before we start.
The cost depends on how many months are behind and how many accounts are involved, so the quote form on the bookkeeping page gives a starting estimate and we confirm it in writing before work begins. If the backlog turns out larger than described, we tell you before going past the quote.
What happens after
Once you are current, monthly bookkeeping keeps it that way, and most clients move to it. It is optional. The cleanup stands on its own, and you keep the file either way.
What we do not do
We are bookkeepers, not CPAs. We do not file tax returns or give tax or legal advice. If cleanup shows a filing problem, such as missed payroll or sales tax filings, we flag it and point you to a licensed professional.
Common questions
How long does a catch-up take?
It depends on how many months and accounts are involved and how quickly you can send statements. We give a timeline with the written scope.
Do you work in my QuickBooks file?
Yes, in the file you own, with user access you control. We also work in Xero and spreadsheets.
What do you need from me?
Access to your accounting file, bank and card statements for the catch-up period, and answers to a list of questions about unclear transactions.
Can I do part of it myself?
Yes. The free guide and the Excel cleanup kit linked below cover the do-it-yourself route.
