How it works
How it works
Daily rate = monthly rent divided by days in the month. Prorated rent is the daily rate times the days occupied, counting the move-in day through the last day of the month.
FAQ
About this calculator
Is prorating rent required?
Not always. It depends on your lease and local rules, and some landlords charge a full month or align the lease to the first. Check your lease and local law.
Does the move-in day count?
This calculator counts it as a day occupied. If your lease counts differently, change the move-in day by one.
Are there other ways to prorate?
Some landlords use a 30-day month or a 365-day year for every month. Use the method in your lease.
Is anything saved?
No. The math runs in your browser and nothing you enter is sent to us.
Is this tax or financial advice?
No. It is a calculator for general information. Check the numbers against your own records, and ask an accountant before you act on them.
