Nonprofit Treasurer's Workbook: Fund Balances, Donor Acknowledgements, Budget vs Actual and a Board Report in Excel
Record income and spending by fund, see what each restricted fund still holds, catch gifts that still need a thank-you letter, and give the board a one-page report.

Who it is for
Volunteer treasurers of small nonprofits, community groups, clubs and youth organizations.
Why it is different
- It tracks money by fund, so restricted gifts are never spent by accident.
- It flags gifts at or above a threshold you set that have no acknowledgement, so you can check them before year end.
- A filled example for an invented youth-sports nonprofit and a blank copy with working formulas.
What is inside
- Start Here. Purpose, which cells to fill in and what the workbook is not.
- Setup. Fiscal year, your funds, income and expense categories, which expenses are program, management or fundraising, and your approval threshold.
- Ledger. Every receipt and payment by date, fund and category, with receipt-on-file and approver columns and a running balance by fund.
- Donors. A donor register without addresses, with gift type, restricted fund and whether an acknowledgement was sent.
- Budget vs Actual. Annual budget against the ledger by category, with variance and flags.
- Restricted Funds. Opening balance, income, spending and ending balance by fund, with a warning for any fund that goes negative.
- Treasurer Report. A printable board report with the statement of activity, fund balances, budget highlights and open items.
- Functional Expenses. Program, management and fundraising totals and percentages.
- Checks. Uncategorized rows, negative fund balances, missing receipts and gifts missing an acknowledgement.
