How it works
How it works
Export open invoices (customer, invoice, date, due date, amount, paid, email) to CSV. The script builds an aging report (current, 1-30, 31-60, 61-90, 90+), then a weekly action list following a friendly (about 7 days late), firm (about 30) and final-notice (about 60) sequence, skipping letters you have already logged as sent. It writes one letter per customer as text and printable HTML from templates you can edit. Letters stay factual and never threaten. The report also has a New Jersey court reference: Small Claims up to $5,000 and Special Civil Part up to $20,000 with the published filing fees, plus a warning when an invoice nears the 6-year contract statute of limitations.
FAQ
About this calculator
What do I need to run it?
Python 3.9 or newer and a CSV of open invoices from QuickBooks, Xero, Wave or a spreadsheet. It runs on your computer and never sends email.
Can I change the letters?
Yes. Run it with --write-templates to get the friendly, firm and final templates as text files, edit them, and point the script at your folder.
Are the court fees current?
They come from the NJ Courts small claims and Special Civil Part guides revised July 2022. Confirm current fees with the court clerk before filing.
Is this legal advice?
No. It organizes your receivables and drafts factual reminders. Consumer debts have stricter collection rules; consult an attorney before escalating any balance.
