How it works
How it works
Reorder point is average daily sales times the supplier lead time in days, plus safety stock. Safety stock here is average daily sales times the number of safety days you choose. When on-hand stock falls to the reorder point, order. This is a rule of thumb: real demand and lead times vary, so a longer safety cushion costs more stock but lowers the chance of a stockout.
FAQ
About this calculator
How do I find average daily sales?
Take units sold over a recent period, such as 90 days, and divide by the number of days. Use a period that reflects normal demand.
How many safety days should I use?
It depends on how steady your sales and supplier are. There is no standard number, so choose the cushion you are comfortable with.
Does it handle seasonality?
No. Recalculate when demand changes, such as before a holiday season.
Is anything saved?
No. It runs in your browser and nothing you enter is sent to us.
