What to expect

What happens at your appointment

  1. We confirm

You request a time. We email to confirm it and send your video link. No time is guaranteed until you get that email.

  2. You join and verify ID

Join from a phone, tablet or computer with a camera. Show a government photo ID and answer a few identity questions. Have the document ready, unsigned.

  3. You sign, we seal

You sign electronically while the notary watches on video. The notary completes the certificate and applies the e-seal.

  4. You pay after

Your card, if you save one, is charged only after the session, once the final fee is confirmed. You get a receipt and the notarized file by email.

Compare the cost to the alternative. A document rejected for a missing notarization usually costs more than an online session. See starting prices. State notarial fees, if any, are shown before you book.

Not ready to book? Leave your number and we'll call you.

What we notarize online

We notarize remotely, on live video. If the person or office receiving your document requires an in-person notary, ask them first whether they accept a remote online notarization.

Remote Online Notarization

Sign and notarize entirely online

RON lets a signer appear before a commissioned notary over secure two-way audio-video. Documents are signed electronically, the notary applies an electronic seal, and the full session is recorded.

What a RON signing looks like

  1. Upload

You or the title team uploads the PDF package; we tag signature and seal fields.

  2. Invite

Signer gets an email link. No software to install; a computer with camera works best.

  3. Verify ID

Signer scans a government ID and answers identity questions generated from public records.

  4. Sign live

Notary reviews the documents with the signer on video, then the signer e-signs.

  5. Seal & deliver

Notary applies e-seal and certificate. The tamper-evident file goes to all parties.

Good fit

When RON works well

  • Signer is traveling, overseas or far from the property
  • Refinances and HELOCs where the lender and underwriter accept e-closings
  • POAs, affidavits and business documents needed today
  • Multiple signers in different cities on one session
  • Late-night or weekend signings

Check first

When RON may not fit

  • The county recorder does not accept electronic recording for the document type
  • The lender, investor or title underwriter requires wet-ink originals
  • The signer cannot pass knowledge-based questions (thin credit file, recent name change)
  • Wills and certain estate documents, depending on the state
  • The receiving agency or foreign country will not accept an electronic notarization

State rules

Where RON is allowed

Most states now have permanent RON laws. The notary must be commissioned and RON-authorized in their own state, and that state's rules govern the act. Many states also let their notaries serve signers located elsewhere, including abroad.

Before we schedule: the desk confirms that the notary's state authorizes RON for your document type, that the signer's location is permitted, and that your lender, title underwriter and recorder accept it. Laws change often, so we check each order instead of relying on a fixed list.

Signer requirements: unexpired government photo ID, a device with camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and a quiet private space for the recording.

Home / For Notaries

Join as a remote online notary

We are adding a small number of established, independent notaries who already run their own remote online notarization business. You work from your own office on your own schedule and choose which sessions to take.

Founded by Matthew Coleman, a working NJ notary and NNA Certified Loan Signing Agent based in Cranford. Free to join. We never charge you to work.

Pay: the fee for each remote session is shown on the offer before you accept. Paid after the session is complete. You set your own rates and tell us what they are.

Remote work, so you can be anywhere in New Jersey. We look for notaries who already have other clients and their own insurance.

For notaries

Common questions

Does it cost anything to join?

No. It's free to join, and we never charge you to work.

How do job offers come in?

By email, and by text if you turn that on in the portal. Each offer shows the location, time and your pay before you accept.

Can I turn jobs down?

Yes, any time. Accept the ones that fit your schedule and your area.

When do I get paid?

While we're starting out, within 30 days of a clean return, as clients pay us. Once we've built a cash cushion, we're moving to pay every 14 days.

Am I an employee?

No. You're an independent contractor: you choose which jobs to take, and you'll receive a 1099 at year-end.

Is the work steady?

Honestly, we're just starting out. We're marketing hard to title companies, law firms, hospitals and families, and we're keeping the team small so the notaries who join early get the work as it grows.

Want more hours? You can also work as a signing witness.

Frequently asked questions

Ordering

How fast can I get a session?

Same-day sessions are often possible. Most slots are open day and night, and booking online shows what is available. Call the desk if you need something within the hour.

What does a session cost?

The fee depends on the document and the number of signers. You see the price before you book, and your card is charged only after the session.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Let the desk know as early as possible. You can reschedule from your booking confirmation or call the desk.

Remote online notarization

Will my lender accept a RON closing?

Many do, but acceptance depends on the lender, investor, title underwriter and county recorder. We confirm with your team before scheduling.

What does a signer need for RON?

An unexpired government photo ID, a computer or tablet with camera and microphone, and a stable connection. Most platforms also ask identity questions drawn from public records.

Can a signer outside the U.S. use RON?

Often, yes. Several states let their RON notaries serve signers abroad, subject to rules about the document and the foreign country. Ask the desk before booking.

Notaries & compliance

Are your notaries background checked and insured?

Every notary has a current background screening, an active commission and errors & omissions insurance on file.

Can the notary explain my document or give legal advice?

No. Notaries cannot give legal or financial advice. Questions about what a document means go to the lawyer, lender or agency that requested it.

How do I join as a remote notary?

Apply on the For Notaries page. We review applications within three business days.
