For CPA firms and tax preparers

Bookkeeping help for CPA firms and their clients

Bad books slow every return. We clean and keep your clients' books so your team starts from reconciled records, and the tax work stays where it belongs, with you.

Who this is for

Firms and preparers who have clients with books they would rather not handle: late reconciliations, uncategorized accounts, a missing owner, or a client who needs a monthly rhythm. You focus on returns and advice. We handle the bookkeeping.

Two ways to work together

  1. Referral. You introduce a client, we take over the bookkeeping and send you the year-end package. You choose how involved you stay.
  2. Overflow. You keep the client and the relationship, and we do the bookkeeping behind the scenes in the client's software, under terms you set.

What we hand your team

  • Bank, card and processor accounts reconciled to statements
  • A clean chart of accounts with no uncategorized pile
  • Loans, owner activity and payroll posted to the right accounts
  • Financial statements and a note on anything unusual
  • A year-end close package, so tax prep starts from final books
  • The date books were closed, so nothing changes after you begin

See the detail in our readiness checklist for CPAs and lenders and the deadline pages.

What we ask of you

  • A client who agrees to the arrangement, and a clear note on who contacts whom
  • Access to the client's software or the access your firm already holds
  • The firm's preferences on chart of accounts, month-end timing and file naming
  • A single point of contact at your firm

Roles in writing

Before any work starts, we put the scope, access, confidentiality and responsibilities in writing. Any referral arrangement is agreed in writing and should follow the professional rules that apply to you. We do not assume one.

Start small

Send one client whose books you would like fixed. We review first and give a written scope. Or have the client take the free books check, which shows what is out of line.

Questions

Do you prepare or file tax returns for our clients?

No. Returns, tax advice, audits and attest work stay with your firm. We keep the books so your work starts from clean records.

Who owns the client relationship?

You decide that and we put it in writing. Some firms refer a client and step back from the bookkeeping. Others keep the relationship and use us for overflow.

How would referral compensation work?

Whether any compensation is appropriate depends on the professional rules that apply to you. We do not assume an arrangement. Anything agreed is in writing and follows those rules.

Which software do you use?

The client's own, most often QuickBooks Online or Xero. Access is through the client's login or the access your firm already has.

What about confidentiality?

We handle client records under a written confidentiality term and ask only for the access the work requires.

How do we start?

Send one client whose books are in a state you would like fixed. We review first and give a written scope. A small start shows both sides how the work runs.

MCC Solutions is not a CPA firm or a law firm. We do not prepare tax returns, perform audits or give tax or legal advice. Rules, fees and deadlines change, so confirm anything that matters with the agency involved or your CPA.
