How it works
How it works
The golden ratio, phi, is (1 + square root of 5) / 2, about 1.618. If a length is the shorter side, the longer side is that length times 1.618. If it is the longer side, the shorter side is that length divided by 1.618.
Example: a card 10 inches wide on its shorter side would be 10 x 1.618 = 16.18 inches long. A 1,200-pixel page split into golden parts gives a 741.6 pixel main column and a 458.4 pixel sidebar.
