Reading the result
"Required" means a stated rule covers a business like yours, and the rule that does it is marked "applies to you". "Not required by the headcount rule" means you're under the number the state gives; you can still enroll, and a contract can still require it. "Not confirmed" means we couldn't read a rule on an official page, so we don't guess. A federal contract with the FAR E-Verify clause requires E-Verify whatever the state says.

Questions about the checker
Who counts as an employee for the checker?
Count everyone on the payroll, full-time or part-time. States that use a headcount count employees, not contractors, and Georgia's affidavit takes the count on January 1. If you're close to a line, read the state's own wording in the result.
What counts as a public employer or a state contract?
A public employer is a state agency, a city, county or school district, or another government body. A state contract or grant means the business is paid by the state or a local government under an agreement; several states make E-Verify a condition of getting one.
What does 'E-Verify is one way to meet the rule' mean?
Some states give a private employer two ways to comply. In Louisiana, verifying every employee through E-Verify or keeping copies of the listed documents both protect against the state's civil penalties; Montana's rule allows Form I-9 or E-Verify. The result quotes the state's own wording.
Do I create the E-Verify case myself?
Yes. The employer creates each case in its own E-Verify account from the completed Form I-9, no later than the third business day after the employee starts work for pay. An authorized representative can complete Section 2 of the I-9 for you, but the case stays with you.
Does the checker save what I enter?
No. The page reads your choices from the address bar, works out the answer and shows it. Nothing is stored, and it works without JavaScript.
