Quick answer. Most states make an LLC file a short report every year or every two years to keep it in good standing, usually with the Secretary of State. 45 of the 51 jurisdictions below require one, 8 of them every two years, and flat fees for a domestic LLC run from nothing to $500 (Massachusetts); Tennessee's grows with the number of members, up to $3,000. 38 states are confirmed in full on their official pages; the rest are marked so you know what to check.

"Due" is the state's general rule. For the next dates for your own LLC, use the LLC annual report due date calculator. New Jersey owners: our guide to the NJ LLC annual report walks through filing it, and the New Jersey Business Compliance Calendar 2027 adds New Jersey's tax and payroll deadlines.
Separate state taxes worth knowing
- California: Every LLC doing business or organized in California pays $800 a year until it cancels, even with no business activity. The first year's tax is due by the 15th day of the 4th month after filing with the Secretary of State; later years by the 15th day of the 4th month of the taxable year (April 15 for a calendar-year LLC). A separate LLC fee of $900 to $11,790 applies when California income is $250,000 or more. (California Franchise Tax Board)
- Delaware: instead of a report, LLCs pay a $400 annual tax by June 1.
- Texas: the annual franchise tax report is due May 15; an LLC at or below the $2,650,000 no tax due threshold owes no tax but still files a Public Information Report or Ownership Information Report.
- Wyoming: the annual report carries a license tax of $60 or $0.0002 per dollar of Wyoming assets, whichever is greater.
What's missing, by state
- Georgia: Current fee: a newer fee schedule (effective September 6, 2025) is listed on sos.ga.gov but couldn't be opened, so the $50 figure comes from the 2021 schedule. Check sos.ga.gov.
- Idaho: Fee: not stated on the pages opened. Check sos.idaho.gov. Late penalty: not stated. Check sos.idaho.gov.
- Illinois: Due date, fee and penalty: the Illinois Secretary of State's site blocks automated reading, so nothing was confirmed. Check ilsos.gov.
- Iowa: Calendar due date in the odd year: not stated on the pages opened. Check sos.iowa.gov.
- Kansas: Fee: the Secretary of State announced lower information report fees in May 2026 without the new amount or effective date. Check sos.ks.gov.
- Nebraska: Fee: not listed on the pages opened. Check sos.nebraska.gov.
- New Mexico: Whether LLCs file a recurring report: the pages opened don't say. Check sos.nm.gov.
- Ohio: Whether LLCs file a recurring report: ohiosos.gov pages couldn't be opened. Check ohiosos.gov.
- Oklahoma: Due date: sos.ok.gov blocks automated reading. Check sos.ok.gov.
- South Carolina: An explicit statement that LLCs taxed as partnerships or disregarded entities file no annual report. Check sos.sc.gov and dor.sc.gov.
- South Dakota: Due date: SDCL 47-34A-211 couldn't be read in its current form. Check sdsos.gov.
- Tennessee: Due date: sos.tn.gov annual report pages couldn't be opened. Check sos.tn.gov.
- Wisconsin: Fee: WDFI fee pages block automated reading. Check wdfi.org.

Common questions
Which states don't require an LLC annual report?
On the official pages we read, Arizona and Missouri say plainly that LLCs don't file one. South Carolina's Department of Revenue says the Secretary of State handles only formation documents for LLCs. We couldn't confirm Illinois, New Mexico, Ohio, so check those states' own sites.
Which states have the highest and lowest LLC annual report fees?
Of the fees we confirmed, Pennsylvania charges the least ($7) and Massachusetts the most among flat fees ($500). Tennessee's fee depends on the number of members: $300 minimum, up to $3,000. Several states charge nothing for the report itself, and some collect an annual tax instead.
What does "last checked" mean?
The date we last read that state's rule on its official website. States change fees and forms, sometimes mid-year, so the state's own page wins if it differs from this table.
Are these fees for out-of-state LLCs too?
No. The table shows the report and fee for an LLC formed in that state (a domestic LLC). An LLC registered there from another state may pay a different fee or file on a different date.
Why is a cell marked "Not confirmed"?
Because the official pages we could open didn't state it. Rather than fill the gap from a third-party site, we name the official site to check. The list under the table says exactly what's missing for each state.
