FAQ
About this calculator
What is contingency for?
A cushion for work that takes longer than expected or costs that were missed.
What is the difference between markup and margin?
Markup is added on top of cost. Margin is the share of the price that is profit, so a 20% markup is a margin of about 16.7%.
Should I quote a fixed price?
That is a business decision. A written scope and a price you are comfortable with protect both sides.
Is anything saved?
No. The math runs in your browser and nothing you enter is sent to us.
Is this tax or financial advice?
No. It is a calculator for general information. Check the numbers against your own records, and ask an accountant before you act on them.
