Sales tax permits · remote sellers
Sales tax permit registration for online sellers
Once an online seller's sales into a state pass that state's remote seller threshold, the state expects the seller to register and start collecting its sales tax. You confirm you need the permit, and we prepare and submit the application, then send you the permit details and the filing schedule the state assigns.
From $99 per state, plus any state permit fee at costGovernment, state and court fees are passed through at cost.

How it works
- Check the threshold. Compare your sales with the state's rule in our threshold checker. You decide whether to register.
- Send the request. The state, the business, what you sell and where, and your authorization.
- Upload the details. EIN or owner's tax ID and business details, through the secure upload on your request page.
- Permit issued. We submit the application and send you what the state issues, including the filing schedule.
What we don't do
- We don't decide whether you have to register in a state, or give tax advice.
- We don't file sales tax returns with this service; after registering, returns are due on the state's schedule.
- We don't set up tax collection in your store or marketplace account.
- We don't guarantee the state's approval or timing.
MCC Solutions handles paperwork. We are not lawyers or tax advisers, and nothing here is legal or tax advice.
Marketplace sales and the threshold
Many states count sales made through marketplaces such as Amazon or Etsy toward your threshold, even though the marketplace collects the tax on those orders. A few don't, and some measure orders as well as dollars. Our threshold page notes what each state's page says, so check it for your states before you decide.

Before you send
- We'll ask for the EIN or owner's tax ID through the secure upload on your request page, never in this form or by email.
- You decide whether you've crossed a state's threshold. Our threshold table and checker show each state's published rule; we don't give tax advice.
- State permit fees, where a state charges one, are passed through at cost. We tell you before we submit.
- After registering you must file returns on the schedule the state assigns. Filing returns isn't part of this service.
- The state decides on the application and how fast. We don't guarantee approval or timing.

Questions
How much does it cost?
$99 per state, plus any permit fee the state charges, at cost. We tell you the state's fee before we submit.
How do I know I've crossed a threshold?
Each state publishes its own rule: a dollar amount, sometimes a number of orders, over a set period. Our threshold checker compares your numbers with the state's figures. The decision to register is yours, with your accountant's help.
What happens after I'm registered?
The state assigns a filing schedule, often monthly, quarterly or yearly, and expects a return for each period, sometimes even with no sales. Filing returns isn't part of this service.
Do you register in states with no sales tax?
There's no state permit to get in Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire or Oregon, which have no statewide sales tax according to our table. Alaska has local sales taxes with their own rules; ask us about those.
Do I need an EIN?
Most states ask for an EIN, or the owner's Social Security number for a sole proprietor. You upload it on your request page, never in this form or by email.
Can you guarantee the state approves it?
No. The state reviews the application on its own schedule. If it asks for more information, we tell you what it asked for.
