How it works
How it works
The decimal is numerator divided by denominator. The percent is the decimal times 100. Whole-number fractions are reduced by their greatest common divisor.
Example: 5/8 is 5 divided by 8, which is 0.625, or 62.5%. A fraction such as 2/4 reduces to 1/2 because both numbers divide evenly by 2. Some fractions, such as 1/3, repeat forever as decimals, so the answer is rounded to four places.
