How it works
How it works
The tip is bill x tip percentage. The total is the bill plus the tip. Each share is the total divided by the number of people.
Example: an $80.00 bill with a 20% tip is a $16.00 tip and a $96.00 total. Split four ways, each person pays $24.00. If one person ordered much more, split the shared items evenly and each person's own items separately.
FAQ
About this calculator
Should I tip on the pre-tax amount?
Customs differ. Many people tip on the pre-tax subtotal, and others tip on the total. Enter whichever amount you use.
How do I split unevenly?
Calculate each person's own items separately, then add a share of the shared items.
Is a service charge the same as a tip?
Not always. Check the receipt, since some places add a service charge already.
Is anything saved?
No. The math runs in your browser and nothing you enter is sent to us.
