How it works
How it works
Words are groups of characters separated by spaces. Reading time is words divided by your reading speed. The default of 238 words per minute is a common adult average, and speaking time uses 130 words per minute, a common speaking pace. Change the speed to suit your audience.

How long should a web page be?
As long as it takes to answer the question well. Length alone does not rank a page, so write for the reader.
How are sentences counted?
By periods, question marks and exclamation marks followed by a space or the end of the text, so abbreviations can add a few.
