How it works. Tick the states where you paid employees or contractors in 2026 and select Show my deadlines. You get one list in date order: the federal 1099 and W-2 dates, then each state's 1099, W-2 and year-end reconciliation dates for the 2027 season, with the official source for each.
Your 2027 filing list: District of Columbia
Tax year 2026 forms filed in the 2027 season. Federal dates move to the next business day when the regular date is a weekend or holiday (IRS); a state date moves only where the state's page says so, and otherwise we flag it. Bookmark or share this page's address to come back to the same list.

District of Columbia
- State 1099 copies
- Yes. OTR's 2025 specifications say copies of federal 1099s must be submitted to report income of $600 or more, for both DC residents and nonresidents, but also that nonresidents aren't required to be filed if no DC withholding applies. The accepted forms include 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC.
- IRS CF/SF
- Doesn't count; file direct. DC participates in CF/SF, but still requires a separate direct filing for tax year 2025, even from approved CF/SF filers.
- Year-end form
- Form FR-900A, Employer/Payer Withholding Tax Annual Return (FR-900NP for withholding reported on 1099s and W-2Gs), due On or before January 31, 2027 for 2026
- E-filing
- 25 or more information returns must be filed electronically through MyTax.DC.gov; employers with 25 or more W-2s must use the online bulk file submission.

The federal threshold for Forms 1099-NEC and most 1099-MISC boxes is now $2,000: the IRS instructions (Rev. December 2026) say that for tax years beginning after 2025 the minimum reporting threshold increased to $2,000 and may be adjusted for inflation beginning in calendar year 2027. States set their own triggers, and several state pages still show older amounts. The 1099 threshold changes page covers the federal side by year.

Questions about the finder
Which states should I pick?
Pick every state where you have employees on payroll, plus every state whose residents you paid as contractors or where contractors did the work. State rules key on different things: Connecticut and Delaware look at residents and work done in the state, Missouri at Missouri-source payments of $1,200 or more, Oregon at an Oregon address.
Why does the list start with federal dates?
Because they apply no matter which states you pick: 1099-NEC to the IRS and payees and W-2s to SSA by January 31, which in 2027 is a Sunday, so the IRS date is Monday, February 1, 2027. Form 1099-MISC goes to the IRS by February 28 on paper or March 31 electronically.
What if a state date falls on a weekend?
We move a state's date only when that state's own page says a weekend or holiday date moves to the next business day. Otherwise the list shows the date with a flag, and the safe choice is to file by the Friday before.
Does the finder work without JavaScript?
Yes. The state boxes are a plain form, and the list is built on our server from the address, so a link such as /bookkeeping/1099-w2-filing-deadline-finder?states=nj,ny opens the same list on any device and can be bookmarked or shared.
Is anything I pick stored?
No. The states you pick travel in the page address only; nothing is saved on our side, and there's nothing to sign in to.
