How it works
Days sales outstanding equals accounts receivable divided by credit sales per day. Credit sales per day is the sales for the period divided by the number of days in it. If you enter your payment terms, the result is compared against them.
FAQ
About this calculator
What is days sales outstanding?
It is the average number of days it takes customers to pay you. Divide your receivables balance by your credit sales per day for the period.
What counts as credit sales?
Sales you invoiced and did not collect on the spot. Cash and card sales paid at the time of sale are left out, because they never become receivables.
What is a good number?
Compare it with your payment terms. If your terms are 30 days and customers take 50, receivables are slow. Businesses in different industries differ, so compare against your own past periods.
How can I lower it?
Invoice on the day of the work, state due dates clearly, follow up before and after the due date, and offer easy ways to pay.
Is anything saved?
No. The math runs in your browser and nothing you enter is sent to us.
