How it works

How it works

Quick ratio is (cash + marketable securities + receivables) divided by current liabilities. Working capital is current assets minus current liabilities. Inventory is left out of the quick ratio because it can take time to sell.

FAQ

About this calculator

What is a good quick ratio?

A ratio of 1 or more means quick assets at least match current liabilities. What is healthy varies by industry, so compare with similar businesses.

How is it different from the current ratio?

The current ratio counts all current assets, including inventory. The quick ratio leaves out inventory and other assets that are slower to turn into cash.

What counts as a current liability?

Bills and debts due within a year, such as accounts payable, credit card balances, payroll liabilities and the current part of loans.

Is anything saved?

No. The math runs in your browser and nothing you enter is sent to us.

Is this tax or financial advice?

No. It is a calculator for general information. Check the numbers against your own records, and ask an accountant before you act on them.
