How it works
How it works
Back-end DTI is all monthly debt payments divided by gross monthly income. Front-end DTI is just the housing payment divided by gross monthly income. Lenders use their own limits and their own list of what counts as debt.
FAQ
About this calculator
What is a good debt-to-income ratio?
Lower is easier for a lender to approve. Each lender and loan type sets its own limits, so ask yours what it uses.
What counts as debt?
Usually required monthly payments on loans and cards, plus housing. Utilities, food and insurance are not normally counted. Lenders differ, so check theirs.
Is gross or net income used?
Gross, which means before taxes and deductions.
Is anything saved?
No. The math runs in your browser and nothing you enter is sent to us.
Is this tax or financial advice?
No. It is a calculator for general information. Check the numbers against your own records, and ask an accountant before you act on them.
