How it works
How it works
Pace = time divided by distance, shown per mile and per kilometer. Speed is distance divided by time. Projected times simply hold the same pace over a longer race, which is optimistic for long distances, because pace usually slows as the distance grows.
Example: 5 miles in 40:00 is an 8:00 pace per mile, which is 4:58 per kilometer or 7.5 mph. Held for a 10K, that pace gives about 49:43. Held for a marathon it gives about 3:29:45, though most runners slow down over that distance.
FAQ
About this calculator
What is a good running pace?
It depends on age, training and distance. Compare your pace with your own past runs rather than with someone else's.
How do I convert min per mile to min per km?
Divide the minutes per mile by 1.609. An 8:00 mile is about 4:58 per kilometer.
Are the race predictions accurate?
They assume you hold the same pace the whole way. Most runners slow down in longer races, so treat them as a best case.
How long is a marathon?
42.195 kilometers, or 26.2 miles.
Is anything saved?
No. The math runs in your browser and nothing you enter is sent to us.
