A bookkeeper quit or got it wrong

Your bookkeeper left a mess

A bookkeeper quit mid-year, stopped answering, or turns out to have been months behind. You need someone to look at the books and tell you plainly where things stand.

Step one: a review

We look at the file and the bank accounts and report what is reliable, what is missing and what is wrong, in plain language, before you commit to anything.

Getting your records back

You should have access to your own accounting file, bank logins and payment accounts. If the file sits under the old bookkeeper's account, we can walk you through requesting access or an ownership transfer. If you suspect missing money, contact your bank and an attorney; we can document what the records show.

Taking over

We fix the open periods, set up a monthly routine and write down how things are coded so the next handoff is easy.

Limits

We're not forensic accountants and don't investigate fraud or give legal advice. If the review turns up something serious, we'll say so and suggest the right professional.

FAQ

Common questions

Can you work with the old bookkeeper's file?

Usually yes, once you have access. We review it first.

Can you tell if money is missing?

We can show what the records contain and where they don't tie to the bank. Investigating wrongdoing is for forensic accountants and attorneys.

How quickly can you start?

Ask us. We'll tell you honestly what our schedule looks like.
