Reuse the data and the tools
Every table with an open dataset can be downloaded from the open data portal as CSV or JSON, free under CC BY 4.0 with a link back. Writers, HR teams and associations can put the calculators on their own pages from the embed page; each embed links back to the source table.
How we check
- Official sources only. Every fact comes from a state agency, legislature, court or federal agency page. Each table links the page each row came from.
- Checked dates. Each section shows when its sources were opened. Every section's sources were checked in November 2026; the newest check on the page is November 6, 2026. Each card shows its own date.
- Gaps say "not confirmed". Where an official page didn't state something, the cell says so and links the source, rather than filling it from memory or a secondary site.
- General information, not legal advice. Laws change and cities can add their own rules. Check with the agency, or a lawyer or tax professional, before you rely on a figure.
MCC Solutions is not a law firm or a CPA firm and isn't affiliated with any government agency.
Common questions
What is on the state rules page?
27 sections that each cover the 50 states and DC (or the states listed), grouped for employers, small business filings, landlords and tenants, notaries, estates and workers. Each one has a table, most have a calculator or checker, and many have a page per state.
How current are the tables?
Every section's sources were checked in November 2026; the newest check on the page is November 6, 2026. Each card shows its own date.
What does "not confirmed" mean in a table?
It means the official pages we opened did not state that fact, so the cell is left empty with a link to the official source instead of a guess. The open data files list those gaps for every row.
Can I reuse the data or put a calculator on my site?
Yes. The open data portal at /data/open has each table as a CSV and JSON file under CC BY 4.0 with a link back, and the embed page at /embed gives a copy-and-paste code for the calculators.
Why is there no page for my state in a section?
A state gets its own page only where its official pages gave enough to say something useful. Every state still has a row in the table, and the Pick your state box shows which one you get.
Is this legal or tax advice?
No. It is general information taken from official government pages on the date shown. Laws change and local rules can add to them, so confirm with the agency or a professional before you act on it.
