FACILITY VISITS
Notary visits to jails, prisons and detention centers in New Jersey
A power of attorney, an affidavit or a consent form still needs a notary when the signer is incarcerated. We work with the facility to arrange the visit, check the signer's identity and notarize on site. Facilities set their own rules, so we start by asking what yours requires.

FAQ
Common questions
Will the facility allow a notary visit?
That is up to the facility. Each one has its own rules about who can visit, when, and what you can bring in. We ask first and tell you what they say before we book. We can't promise access.
Does the person need ID?
A notary has to be satisfied of the signer's identity. A facility-issued ID may or may not be accepted for a given document. Tell us what the signer has and we'll say what we can do. If we can't confirm identity, we can't notarize.
Can you tell us what to put in the document?
No. We notarize signatures. For what the document should say, ask the attorney or the office that requested it.
Do you charge extra for facility visits?
Facility visits take extra time for security and waiting, so the fee is quoted for the visit, not the standard rate. We confirm it before we go.
Can you notarize through glass or by video?
That depends on the facility's setup and the law for the document. We tell you what is possible once we've spoken with the facility.
